MonstrARTity is currently seeking applicants for three part-time, freelance contractor positions:

  1. Social Media & Outreach Consultant
  2. Program & Outreach Consultant
  3. Sponsorships Consultant

With availability from mid-October, 2018. These positions will support the following programs:

  1. Bollywood Monster Mashup (BMM), the largest South Asian festival in Canada, featuring music, dance, film and original fusion productions
  2. Monster World Mashup (MWM),  a collective festival featuring cutting-edge world music, spoken word, visual arts and comedy
  3. Monster Arts for Youth (MAY), providing workshops in all forms of South Asian arts to schools and community centres across the Peel Region
  4. Monster Artist Development (MAD) program, providing entrepreneurial skills, industry mentors, performance videos and online profiles to diverse artists

MonstrARTity Creative Community (MCC) is a Mississauga-based, not-for-profit arts organization that engages tens of thousands of people with its original, innovative and world-class programming.

SOCIAL MEDIA & OUTREACH CONSULTANT

DUTIES

This one-year, part-time freelance consultant contract is comprised of social media and marketing work related to the four above programs. This position supports all relevant activities of the marketing team.

From May – August 2019, this position will be supported by a small team of summer student positions for the festival season.

DIGITAL MEDIA AND PR

  • Supporting the development and execution of organization’s online marketing, paid media and advertising strategy across multiple platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google AdWords, etc. and online media outlets)
  • Analyzing marketing and audience data from past events and campaigns to shape and inform strategy for 2019 season
  • Overseeing digital and social media portion of local, provincial and national marketing budgets according to funding and grant restrictions, including media partnerships, advertising buys, design collateral, social media campaigns etc

SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER

  • Crafting communication materials (social media posts, website content etc) on behalf of organization and associated programs
  • Building and maintaining relationships with media, sponsors, politicians, community figures and community partners across social media channels
  • Supporting a strong and cohesive digital strategy through paid and organic campaigns (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google Ads) leading up to and throughout organization’s activities
  • Leading a small team of summer student positions during the 4-month summer festival season
  • Additional supporting activities to benefit the overall team as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or diploma in Social Media, Digital Media, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field; and/or at least one year of relevant experience
  • Experience with digital media impressions and analytics an asset
  • Familiarity with digital advertising buys an asset
  • Proficiency in Google applications (Google Docs, Drive, etc), Google Adwords and Facebook Business preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and initiative
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Program & Outreach Consultant

DUTIES

This one-year, part-time freelance consultant contract is comprised of programming, event production and artist relations work related to the four above programs. This position supports all relevant activities of the programming team.

From May – August 2019, this position will be supported by a small team of summer student positions for the festival season.

  • Contributing to the creation and execution of production schedules for workshops, video shoots, special events and festival programming
  • Booking programming elements (artists, curators,  KidZone staff etc) and suppliers (vendor tents, venue staff, catering etc) for festival events and annual programs
  • Communicating and delivering on-site logistical requirements (footprint, load-in/out times etc) in relation to cash funders’, media sponsors’, performing artists’ and community partner organizations’ needs
  • Managing communication processes and ensuring both parties adhere to all contracts/agreements, including performing artists, vendors and community partner organizations for organization’s programs and festival events
  • Liaising with performing artists, festival vendors, City staff, venue coordinators and other external program contacts as necessary
  • Leading and ensuring smooth coordination and execution of BMM festival, VIP reception and MWM festival programming logistics and artist bookings, leading up to and during festival events and for annual programs
  • Liaising with internal partner teams to proactively assess potential gaps in resources and opportunities for partnerships for planned programming activities
  • Building and maintaining relationships with franchises, small businesses and community organizations and proactively maintaining databases of key stakeholders
  • Leading a small team of summer student positions during the 4-month summer festival season
  • Additional supporting activities to benefit the overall team as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in Arts Administration & Cultural Management, Non-Profit Management, Event Management, Communication & Culture or a related field; and/or at least three years of relevant experience
  • Event coordination or project management experience with non-profits, arts & culture organizations or events/festivals strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Google applications (Google Docs, Drive, etc) preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and initiative
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Sponsorships Consultant

DUTIES

This one-year, part-time freelance consultant contract is comprised of corporate sponsorship outreach, relationship-building and documentation work related to the four above programs. This position supports all relevant cash and in-kind sponsorship activities of the organization.

  • Developing and executing organization’s corporate sponsorship and resource strategy, leading up to and during festival events and across year-long programs
  • Analyzing corporations’ activities in relation to the arts & culture landscape to identify viable target sponsors and customize communications
  • Developing and creating sponsorship levels and materials (info packages, results reports etc) for organization and associated events
  • Tracking all contracts and commitments on sponsors’ and organization’s side, ensuring internal teams are aware of necessary actions and both parties are fulfilling contractual obligations (branding and recognition, sponsor booth logistics and footprint etc)
  • Liaising with Executive Director and  internal partner teams to proactively assess potential gaps in funding for planned programming or marketing activities
  • Ongoing sourcing, building and maintaining face-to-face relationships with corporate sponsors and marketing agencies
  • Additional supporting activities to benefit the overall team as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or diploma in Fundraising Management, Non-Profit Management, Arts Administration & Cultural Management, Communication & Culture or a related field; and/or at least two years of relevant experience
  • Experience with non-profits, charities, arts programming or events/festivals an asset
  • Track record of in-kind or cash sponsorships secured and/or relationship-building experience an asset
  • Proficiency in Google applications (Google Docs, Drive, etc) preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and initiative
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
