The successful candidates must be available for both festival dates – May 31-June 1 (MWM – tentative) and July 18-20 (BMM – confirmed).

All positions will support the following festival programs:

  1. Bollywood Monster Mashup (BMM), the largest South Asian festival in Canada, featuring music, dance, film and original fusion productions
  2. Monster World Mashup (MWM),  a collective festival featuring cutting-edge world music, spoken word, visual arts and comedy

All positions (excluding the Stage & Operations Lead) will support:

  1. Monster Arts for Youth (MAY), providing workshops in all forms of South Asian arts to schools and community centres across the Peel Region
  2. Monster Artist Development (MAD) program, providing entrepreneurial skills, industry mentors, performance videos and online profiles to diverse artists

MonstrARTity Creative Community (MCC) is a Mississauga-based, not-for-profit arts organization that engages tens of thousands of people with its original, innovative and world-class programming.

 

Social Media & Outreach Lead

DUTIES

This one-year, part-time freelance consultant contract (with opportunity for renewal) is comprised of social media and marketing work related to the four above programs. This position supports all relevant activities of the marketing team.

From May – August 2019, this position will be supported by a small team of summer student positions for the festival season.

  • Supporting the development and execution of organization’s online marketing, paid media and advertising strategy across multiple platforms (e.g. social media, web banners, influencers, SEO and digital ads)
  • Analyzing marketing and audience data from past events and campaigns to shape and inform strategy for 2019 season
  • Overseeing digital and social media portion of local and tourism budgets according to funding and grant restrictions, including media partnerships, advertising buys, design collateral, social media campaigns etc
  • Crafting communication materials (social media posts, website content etc) on behalf of organization for associated programs
  • Building and maintaining relationships with media, sponsors, politicians, community figures and community partners across social media channels
  • Supporting a strong and cohesive digital strategy through paid and organic campaigns (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Google Adwords and Google Display) leading up to and throughout organization’s activities
  • Leading a small team of summer student positions during the 4-month summer festival season
  • Additional supporting activities to benefit the overall team as necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or diploma in Social Media, Digital Media, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field; and/or at least two years of relevant experience
  • Experience with digital media impressions and analytics an asset
  • Familiarity with digital advertising buys an asset
  • Proficiency in Google applications (Google Docs, Drive, etc), Google Adwords and Facebook Business preferred

Stage & Operations Lead

DUTIES

This part-time freelance consultant contract runs from April – July 2019 and is comprised of stage management, event production, vendor relations and artist relations work related to the two above programs. This position supports relevant activities of the programming team.

  • Contributing to the creation and execution of stage plots, tech run sheets, backline orders, show run schedules, performer and vendor advancing and other relevant planning documents for BMM and MWM festival events
  • Communicating and delivering on-site logistical requirements (footprint, technical requirements, artist hospitality, suppliers, load-in/out times etc) in relation to performing artists’ and groups’, as well as vendors’, needs
  • Supporting and ensuring smooth coordination and execution of BMM festival stage and MWM festival stage logistics, including backstage support, performer tech runs, sound checks and performances
  • Managing communication processes and ensuring both parties adhere to all contracts/agreements, in regards to performing artists and on-site vendors for organization’s festival events
  • Creating plan for and managing artist hospitality area, including food/drink quantities and setup
  • Liaising with performing artists, festival vendors, City staff, venue coordinators and other external program contacts as necessary
  • Additional supporting activities to benefit the overall team as necessary

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in Stage Management, Production Design & Technical Arts, Performance Production, Theatre Production, Event Management or a related field; and/or at least three years of relevant experience
  • Stage management or performance production experience with non-profits, arts & culture organizations or events/festivals strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Google applications (Google Docs, Drive, etc) preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and initiative
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

DUTIES

The PR & Marketing assistant is responsible for supporting the Marketing Lead. Specific tasks include:

  • Engaging the community and tourism markets via traditional marketing (advertising, media releases, etc.)
  • Disseminating print marketing materials and promoting cultural/tourism events at relevant cultural nodes
  • Increasing our media release distribution list and relationships with media outlets
  • Tracking and providing feedback to the Marketing Lead on all marketing activities, including statistical analyses and reports
  • Marketing research
  • Supporting the Marketing Lead and other team members in activities necessary for the organization

Graphic Designer

DUTIES

The Graphic Design is responsible for supporting the Marketing Lead. Specific tasks include:

  • Creating and designing marketing materials for print and online (print ads, billboards, web banners, brochures, infographics, etc.)
  • Maintaining consistent branding across the organization, all its activities and all marketing collateral (step and repeats, websites, banners, T-shirts, etc.)
  • Creating animated GIFs and similar marketing assets for online and broadcast use
  • Supporting the Marketing Lead and other team members in activities necessary for the organization

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Obtaining necessary permits for organization’s events and activities
  • Supporting scheduling requests, drafts of production event schedules and other logistics operations
  • Coordinating performing artists for organization’s festivals and arts programs
  • Supporting the planning and coordination of VIP event

The Community Outreach assistant is responsible for supporting the Programming Lead. Specific tasks include:

  • Designing a volunteer recruitment and vetting strategy
  • implementing volunteer orientations, on-site management, and recognition
  • Coordinating with established volunteer organizations to secure volunteers for the event
  • Outreach to relevant community organizations for co-curation and long-term relationships
  • Advancing food and market vendor requirements
  • Supporting event load-in, load-out, setup and teardown of interactive activities and food & market vendors
  • Coordinating in-knd partners for organization’s festivals and arts programs
  • Supporting the Programming Lead and other team members in activities necessary for the organization

  • Website integration with Google docs and plug-ins

  • Maintaining online intake and processing forms

The Music Engraver is responsible for supporting the Programming Lead. Specific tasks include:

  • Creating conductor scores and parts using Sibelius as per organization’s engraving templates
  • Assisting with arrangements
  • Transcribing music from MIDI and by ear
  • Sourcing and liaising with professional and community artists
  • Assisting with conducting rehearsals and sound checks
  • Coordinating session musicians for organization’s festivals and arts programs

The Videographer is responsible for supporting the Video Lead. Specific tasks include:

  • Editing performance footage and interviews for use in TV spots, editorial video podcasts and social media
  • Adding motion graphics, lower thirds and credits to enhance storytelling compliant with branding guidelines
  • Coordinating with the programming team to capture performance footage and interviews with artists, audience, vendors, community leaders, program participants and sponsors

Statistics and Economics Assistant

DUTIES

The Statistics and Economics Assistant is responsible for supporting the Marketing Lead. Specific tasks include:

  • Analyzing past festival audience survey data and consumer behaviour
  • Supporting and guiding marketing team decisions through ongoing analyses of website analytics, social media campaign metrics etc
  • Conducting demographic analyses of areas within Peel Region, within Ontario and beyond Ontario regarding specific local and tourist consumer targets
  • Evaluating ROI analyses for marketing campaigns and programming decisions and recommending changes based on data
  • Conducting audience surveys (with small team of volunteers) and compiling results for recommendations on local and tourism program engagement, media preferences and visitor spending
  • Supporting the Marketing Lead and other team members in activities necessary for the organization
