Celebrating The Arts Across the GTHA

MonstrARTity Creative Community (monstrARTity) is a not-for-profit organization based in Mississauga committed to providing arts for the young and old alike in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. monstrARTity amplifies South Asian arts for over ten thousand Canadians from the Indo-Carribean, South Asian, LGBTQ2+, and more communities  who share a love for music and fun. The organization has programs for all ages. Youth get access to workshops, and employment programs while inspiring artists receive mentorship from top industry professionals. Seniors from the local communities also dive into a world of creativity with free workshops including colourful mandala-making, and thoughtful poetry. Every summer, these age groups and locals meld together as one to party into the night at #BollywoodMonster Mashup featuring dance acts, a KidsZone, and aromatic foods.

monstrARTity prides itself on bringing you new and original content which can’t be seen anywhere else. We bring you genre-twisting acts ranging from seasonal programming to our original fusion band the #BollywoodMonster Orchestra.

Repeat isn’t in monstrARTity’s vocabulary. We are constantly mashing things up to bring you new ways to listen, watch, do and enjoy the arts. More importantly, we remove barriers for the community to participate in the arts.

Professionalism and diversity are at the core of monstrARTity. We break cultural silos with innovative ideas and we challenge our artists to do the same. monstrARTity establishes lasting bonds with artists by delivering professional productions with detailed scheduling and media coaching to bring local entertainment.

monstrARTity productions get bigger and better each year! With the goal of topping all previous programming, monstrARTity cultivates acts based on the cultural interests of local communities.

Monster Fusions Since 2011

monstrARTity is the brain-child of award-winning film composer and music producer, Vikas Kohli. Back in 2010, Kohli was invited to sit on the City of Mississauga’s Grants Committee where he was asked to lead a new initiative that helped the city better serve its emerging South Asian majority. His solution was to launch the #BollywoodMonster Mashup festival, and subsequently the parent organization MonstrARTity Creative Community in 2011. Since then the festival has expanded into a multi-day event, and the organization now offers several South Asian arts programs that serve the Peel region.
