Vikas is monstrARTity’s mastermind with a never-ending supply of novel ideas. As an award-winning film composer and music producer with a drive for innovation, he’s been known to fuse vastly distinct genres such as punk and Bollywood. Outside of monstrARTity, Vikas is the Vice-Chair on the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund Board of Directors. He’s been profiled on ET Canada, CBC The National, The Globe & Mail, The Hindustan Times and Zee News.
Lauren (HBA, Dip PR)
Lauren ensures that every person feels valued, and every meeting is made brighter by her friendly enthusiasm and an astonishingly excellent memory for birthdays and events. She’s so well-organized that she’s the personal calendar for all her friends! Proudly a former competitive tap dancer, these days she dances around the team in spirit, dropping her trademark “yay!” in celebration of a job well done.
Jessica (HBA, MA)
Jessica has held roles in festivals, galleries and museums, bringing a diverse portfolio of project and event coordination for nonprofits over the past five years. She specializes in facilitating cultural and educational opportunities while working with creatives, high-level stakeholders, and diverse communities. Enjoying the arts in all parts of her life, Jessica also writes poetry, pursues new crafts (silversmithing and stained glass most recently) and loves to be front row at a concert.
Ev maintains an impressive track record of successful grant writing, thanks to their flawless organization and care for small details. Her happy place is found in completing spreadsheets of budget projections, made all the better with rainbow colour-coding. Ev has also sung in choirs their entire life, and in 2019 leapt into their conducting debut with monstrARTity’s own #BollywoodMonster Orchestra Choir.
Kamdar is the powerful force behind all the food, clothing and jewelry at monstrARTity’s festivals! He’s responsible for the overall management and coordination of all the vending operations, so be sure to say hello and tell him who your favourite vendor is if you see him at our events!
Stephanie has come to monstrARTity with over 10 years of experience in event planning and community relations. After graduating from Leisure and Recreations studies at the University of Ottawa, and Sports Management at Ithaca College, Stephanie worked on corporate and sports events across Canada. In her spare time, she enjoys ultimate frisbee, pub trivia, country music, the Blue Jays, and all things sports related.
Cindy (HBA, MA)
Cindy comes from a traditional East Asian dance background, but loves exploring dance forms of all kinds and learning more about the unique communities behind them. Cindy strives to provide a platform and a voice for culturally diverse artists and the organizations that support them. She also loves absorbing culture through adventurous international travel (despite often getting lost) and relaxing with aerial yoga.
Sanjay is the epitome of Bollywood lover. After graduating with an HBA in Performance Production from Ryerson University, Sanjay worked with the City of Mississauga Culture technical services for 7 years, working on every cultural festival with the city at Celebration Square. He loves music and is a positive personality that you definitely want on your side for any technical production; we’re lucky to have him!
Heine (BA, MA)
Heine has worked on many projects and events worldwide; most notably he was the Head of Event at Denmark’s largest TEDx event and worked on the European Capital of Culture in 2017. Having relocated to Toronto from Denmark, he relishes living in the most multicultural city in the world where he can create inspirational and connective musical experiences for everyone. Heine also enjoys making food and hiking in his spare time and embraces all musical genres.
Shanice (HBA in progress)
Shanice is passionate about advancing social justice and activism in her community while making it accessible and fun. She works with nonprofits, to plan and implement events focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion. When Shanice takes a break from fighting for humanity, she enjoys lifting weights, playing rugby, or splurging on a nice outfit.
Lisa (BSc & BEd in progress)
Lisa bolsters community growth through quality educational opportunities and support for youth. It’s no surprise then that outside monstrARTity, she tutors Canadian and US students from grades 1-12 in math and chemistry. In her free time, Lisa likes to brush up on her guitar and piano skills and enjoys relaxing with cartoons and video games.
Antonia is a musical whiz who can identify the pitch of random noises, and composed her first song at the age of four! Her impressive music skills have led her to perform on CTV, CBC and Global television. She’s been a guest member in the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and a soloist with the Raise Her Voice Chamber Choir. Multi-talented Antonia also helps write our social media content. In her free time she enjoys baking or taking a relaxing bike ride around the neighbourhood.
Vidhi (B.Com, PGDM)
Vidhi brings more than a decade of experience as a Brand Management & Marketing Communications professional. Over the years, she has been enabling brands and delivering award-winning campaigns for a range of clients, from major media conglomerates to startups and nonprofits. Her skill for marketing content perhaps comes from her love of consuming content, especially those rich with culture. She enjoys watching movies & television, theatre and stand-up comedy.
Yash (B.Com, MA)
Yash is a digital marketer specializing in Social Media Marketing. His love for the arts, especially singing and watching movies, pushes him to generate exceptional reach for culturally diverse arts in social media. Thanks to Yash’s skillful digital marketing, #BollywoodMonster Mashup 2021 achieved over 1.5MM online views! Marketing isn’t his entire story though; in the past he had a career as a news presenter, actor and model.
Kane is a designer and illustrator with a passion for bringing clever concepts to life as successful projects and campaigns. Previously, he’s worked with small businesses to improve their visual branding and consistency by developing new brand guidelines and assets. Kane puts creativity into everything, whether he’s making up new recipes, writing original narratives, or finding crafty ways to upcycle.
Ravi uses his profound knowledge of Google Adwords tactics to develop effective ad campaigns that double leads without doubling the budget. For the past 5 years, he’s been creating feats of wonder in the virtual ad space and uses his skills to amplify monstrARTity’s mission to share the arts. An avid traveler and a foodie, Ravi can be found jumping from place to place and munching on a thing or two.
